Chocolate Cockroaches

If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably said to yourself, “Self, Halloween candy is all well and good, but I wish it was grosser. I’m sick of all this candy that looks delicious. Give me something that looks nasty!”

Your wish is my command.

These charmingly disgusting chocolate cockroaches couldn’t be simpler: pecans (or dates) are dipped in chocolate, then the bottoms are covered in chocolate jimmies. A few small sprinkles or candy pearls are added for the eyes, and voila! Your buggy beauties are complete.

These would make an awesome Halloween party treat. Scatter them around the food and amongst the decorations, or package them up as party favors, or bury them in the candy bowl and let your guests find them the hard way. If you can’t serve fake cockroaches to your friends on Halloween, what’s the point of the holiday?

Self, you should definitely make these for the next Halloween shindig you are invited to. You may not get invited back. But it’s worth it.
