This colorful rainbow frosting technique is fast and easy, and makes the most beautiful rainbow cupcakes!

Start with about 8 cups of white buttercream
Color the frosting and put each color in its own piping bag
Lay out a piece of plastic wrap and smooth it out
Start piping lines of colored frosting across the plastic wrap--but leave a margin on the edge of the plastic
Keep piping lines of colors next to each other until you've used every color
Roll up the plastic wrap into a cylinder, hold the edges, and twist it tightly closed
Snip off one end of the plastic wrap. Fit a piping bag with a large star tip.
Slide the cylinder of frosting into the piping bag, snipped end first.
Your frosting bag is ready! Pipe it on cakes or cupcakes for a beautiful, colorful rainbow effect.
